About our Squads At Baskervilles, we love a bit of healthy competition as we feel it fosters determination, passion and focus in children. As such, we have a large selection of girls’ and boys’ Squad, Advanced and Intermediate groups of differing ages and abilities. Children from our General Gymnastics classes are selected into this pathway if we feel they show particular promise.

The youngest group of Beginner and Novice gymnasts train twice a week and start around the age of 5. Children then move on up through our pathway with our top gymnasts training upto 13 hours per week and competing in Regional competitions.

We take our training seriously and each week the programme is specifically designed for each group in order to prepare them for the various competitions that take place throughout the year.

There are two routes gymnasts can take. Those who take part in district level competitions concentrate on floor, vault and trampette work. Other gymnasts take the Olympic Artistic Route, meaning the girls train to perform on bar, beam, floor and vault whilst the boys compete on rings, pommel, high bar, parallel bars, floor and vault.

Boys Squad

Ours Boys Squad is led by Paul Baskerville. Paul also works with school aged and freestyle gymnasts but enjoys preparing the Squad boys for their upcoming competitions.

Girls Squad

We have a very strong team of highly qualified coaches who work closely with the gymnasts to ensure their continued progression. We are privileged to have our Girls Squad group headed by Fran, Rachel and Jasmin, who all work tirelessly with our squad girls and regularly lead our gymnasts to success in competitions.
