Squads

Here at Baskerville’s we love a bit of healthy competition as we feel it fosters determination, passion and focus in children. As such, we have a large selection of girls’ and boys’ squad groups of differing ages and abilities. Children from our recreational classes are selected to become squad members if we feel they show particular promise.

Squad Groups
The youngest group of beginners (training 2.5hrs) start at 5 years old. Children then move on up through the squad ranks aiming to eventually join the elite squad (training 17hrs) from which our gymnasts compete at national competitions.

We take our training seriously and each week the programme is specifically designed for each group in order to prepare them for the various competitions that take place throughout the year.

Two Routes
There are two routes the gymnasts can take. Those who take part in district level competitions concentrate on floor, vault and trampette work. Other gymnasts take the Olympic Artistic Route meaning the girls train to perform on bar, beam, floor and vault whilst the boys compete on rings, pommel, high bar, parallel bars, floor and vault.

Our Team
We have a very strong team of highly qualified coaches who work closely with the gymnasts to ensure their continuing progression. We are privileged to work with two Romanian coaches, both of whom are ex-international gymnasts and who regularly lead our gymnasts to success in competitions.
