Baskervilles Invitational General Gymnastics Competition

 

Biggest Competition of the year: General Gym Competition – 4th & 5th February 2012 at Baskerville’s.

REPORT/RESULTS

For the fourth year running Baskerville’s held their Annual General Gymnastics Competition. We invited gymnasts from all of our weekly classes to take part and compete against other children of similar age and ability. Gymnasts performed a floor routine and two vaults which were judged by a panel of judges .

Spectators were invited to watch the competition. All gymnasts received participation medals with top 3 places receiving special medals and first place receiving a trophy. All proceeds from the competition will go towards funding new equipment for the General Gymnastics Classes.

Gymnasts were spilt into different categories Blue, Yellow or Red for each competition with Pre-Competition and 7+ gymnasts competing on Saturday. In the Blue (Pre Comp) competition Cianna Thompson performed well taking a clean sweep of the medals by winning both the Floor, Vault and Overall. The top six Overall in reverse order: 6th Lily Neale, 5th Clementine Coxon, 4th Isabella Edney, 3rd Amelia Pritchard, 2nd Phoebe Pritchard and 1st Cianna Thompson.

The Red and Yellow competition consisted of the 7+ gymnasts. In the Red competition Brooke Moore finished first on the Vault and Stevie Saunders achieved first place on the Floor and Overall. The top six gymnasts Overall in reverse order: 6th Charlie McKim, 5th Rosie Richmond, 4th Ellie Mount, 3rd Natasha Ivan-Zadeh, joint 2nd Brooke Moore & Max McMullen and 1st Stevie Saunders.

In the Yellow competition Cobey Smith finished first on the Vault and Scarlett Style-Paul managed top spot on the Floor and Overall. The top six Overall in reverse order: 6th Poppy Freeman, 5th Emma Fleming, joint 4th Rachael State & Paige Mahoney, 3rd Megan Jarvis,  2nd Zoe Messer and 1st Scarlett Style-Paul.

On Sunday there were a total of 3 competitions, with 3 different categories and the final competition split into four categories. There were three time slots which all ran on time with enjoyment had by all. The first competition started at 9.30am and consisted of children aged 4-6. In the Blue competition Robyn Ashworth finished first on the Vault, joint first place on Floor was shared by Isabella Beaven, Aimee Marsh & Kacey-May Angel who also finished first Overall. The top six Overall in reverse order: 6th Sara Gunnarsdottir, 5th Isabella Beaven, 4th Rhianna Balch, 3rd Aimee Marsh, 2nd Robyn Ashworth and 1st Kacey-May Angel.

The second competition at 9.30am was the Red competition which Lexie Hall dominated by winning the Floor and Vault. The top six Overall in reverse order: 6th Zack Glasgow, 5th Anna Kitteridge, 4th Edward Gould, 3rd Molly Hibbert-Davies, 2nd Aofie Kestell and 1st Lexie Hall.

The final competition at 9.30am was the Yellow competition where Alice Haig saw Gold on Floor while Alexandra Moir came in second on Floor, winning the Vault and taking Gold Overall. The top six Overall in reverse order: 6th Abigail Hutchings, 5th Alice Haig, 4th Maeve McGee, 3rd Connie Osborn, 2nd Carys Handley and 1st Alexandra Moir.

After a short interval the next competition began on time at 11.30am, after a short warm up by the 6-8 year old children. In the Blue competition there was joint first on Vault shared by Sophia Rose & Blueenn Jackson while Chloe New performed well enough to take the Gold on the Floor and Overall. The top six Overall in reverse order: 6th Lexi Davies, 5th Maisie Humphries, 4th Tallulah Alford, 3rd Jasmine Lyons, 2nd Jasmine Moore and 1st Chloe New.

The second competition at 11.30am was the Red competition with Ella Thompson finishing first on Vault scoring 9.1 and Nia Mogg who finished third on Vault taking the Gold on Floor and the Overall top spot! The top six overall in reverse order: 6th Esme Matthews, 5th William McKim, 4th Mason Nolan-Kemp, 3rd Isobel Baldwin, 2nd Jake Feasby and 1st Nia Mogg.

The final competition at 11.30am was the Yellow competition which was a battle between Luke Charlwood and Annabelle Callan. With Luke taking the Gold on Vault with a score 9.5 and finishing 3rd on Floor, while Annabelle finished second behind only Luke on Vault and finishing first on Floor with a score of 9.7, leaving her with an unbeatable overall score of 18.9 placing her in first place! The top six overall in reverse order: 6th Georgina Cobbold, 5th Annika Moorehouse, 4th Lauren Askew, 3rd Mia Spearman-Armisead, 2nd Luke Charlwood and 1st Annabelle Callan.

The final competition of the day was spilt into the Beginner Girls and the Advanced, Blue, Red and Yellow. The Beginner Girls consisted of 7 girls all trained in part by Emma Baskerville. They performed well on both pieces with Rosie Banks taking the Gold on Vault and Emily Morris finishing first on Floor leaving for an interesting finish overall. The top five Overall in reverse order: joint 5th Alisha Gordon & Sara Salemon, 4th Kodi Bloomfield, 3rd Isobel Dixon, 2nd Olivia Underwood and joint 1st Emily Morris & Rosie Banks.

In the Blue advanced competition Katie Kendall finished first on Floor while Evie Newman took the Gold on Vault taking first in the Overall competition. The top six Overall in reverse order: 6th Rosie Paterson, 5th Anna Green, 4th Ella Stewart, joint 3rd Claudia Moorhouse, Alice Helps & Amy Newton, 2nd  Katie Kendall and 1st Evie Newman.

In the Red advanced competition Scarlett Loran finished first on the Floor while Abby Shrubb claimed the Gold on Vault which provided her with the Overall top spot. The top six Overall in reverse order: 6th Scarlett Loran, 5th Isobel Willis, joint 4th Fleur Dutton & Alice Chadwick, 3rd Isabel Jefferies, 2nd Katie Ghali and 1st Abby Shrubb.

The Yellow advanced competition proved to be an open affair with Molly Frost taking the Gold on Floor and Ishara Bark finishing top on the Vault. The top six overall in reverse order: 6th Charlotte Barr, 5th Alice Hibbert-Davies, 4th Ishara Bark, 3rd Emily Watts, joint 2nd Holly Jones & Isobel Hughes and 1st Eve Hewitt.

There were a total of 4 action-packed competitions spread out over the 2 days with gymnasts ranging from 4 to 13 years. All competitions ran smoothly regardless of the weather, with all the gymnasts and spectators having a great time. Well done to all the gymnasts that competed, but also a massive thank you to the coaches and judges!
